The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign Hosts 8th Annual HERO Walk & 5K Run on Ocean City Boardwalk

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (October 16, 2018) – The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign will host its 8th Annual HERO Walk & 5K Run on Sunday, October 21st, at the Ocean City Sports and Civic Center, located at 6th Street and the Boardwalk. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The competitive 5K Boardwalk Run begins at 9 a.m., with prizes for men and women in various age groups. The HERO Walk follows at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the event support the HERO Campaign and its mission to promote designated driving. Sponsors include ANA Towing, AtlantiCare, ClearChannel Outdoor, the Foster-Karney Foundation, Stockton University, Viking Yachts, Bayshore Rebar Inc., Ironworkers Local 399, Glenn Insurance Inc., OceanFirst Bank, South Jersey Industries and Tropicana Atlantic City.

“Each year hundreds of families join us for the HERO Walk & 5K Run to help us prevent drunk driving tragedies,” Bill Elliott, HERO Campaign Chairman and CEO, said. “We thank them for helping us save lives by reducing the number of drunk driving fatalities and injuries in our region.”

In addition to the walk and run, supporters take the HERO Pledge to be and use designated drivers, and enjoy music, face painting and balloon sculptures for the kids.
