Whitley County Signs Proclamation as HERO Campaign County

(Williamsburg, KY) On Tuesday August 13, 2013 Officer Steven Douglas with Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement joined Whitley County Judge Executive Pat White Jr. in signing a proclamation proclaiming Whitley County as a HERO Campaign County for designated drivers.

The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign is a non profit organization whose mission is to prevent drunken driving tragedies by promoting the use of safe and sober designated drivers.

John R. Elliott graduated in 2000 from the United States Navel Academy, and was preparing to attend Naval Flight School when he was killed in a head-on collision with a drunk driver.

Whitley County shares a partnership with the state of New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, New York and Kentucky who all have adopted The HERO Campaign and promotes the nationwide message “Be a HERO. Be a Designated Driver.”
