Hollywood Casino Perryville Supports HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers

On Wednesday, November 21st, Hollywood Casino Perryville adopted the John R. Elliott HERO campaign. The HERO campaign was built in memory of Elliott who was tragically killed by a drunk driver who was released 3 hours after being arrested for drunk driving. Born and raised in New Jersey, John graduated the Naval Academy as a squad leader and platoon commander. His parents, Muriel and William, made it their mission to promote the usage of sober designated drivers to make sure no other families endured the pain that they had suffered.

The campaign has successfully created “John’s Law” which was passed at both the state and federal levels. The law requires police to impound the cars of drunk drivers for at least 12 hours. Hollywood Casino seized the opportunity to support the worthy cause and they are now providing the established designated driver with a special wristband that allows them to drink unlimited non-alcoholic beverages for free at the property.  Guests of the casino can see any server, bartender or hostess at Celebrity Bar and Grill for their wristband and free fountain drinks.

“We are so proud to be a part of this campaign, I am familiar with the program from when I worked in Atlantic City and am very excited to be able to bring the HERO campaign to Maryland,” said Bill Hayles General Manager of Hollywood Casino Perryville.
